This set claims to be compatible with Thomas Train. Well for the most part it is, but not 100%, especially if you plan on using Thomas Engine motorized. There are some other drawbacks as well. The track is metric and slightly narrower than true Thomas track so Thomas cars don’t fit completely down into the grooves. The supplied Chinese cars that come with this set do fit better, though their quality is not even close as good as Thomas brand. The bridge in the center of photo shown is positioned too close to the “downhill” slope of track and taller cars will not fit underneath it. Because the track is slightly narrower, motorized Thomas Tank Engine, especially, tends to run off of the track and will not stay on. I removed the “rubber band” edging on the front wheels only which allowed more slippage and kept Thomas Engine on the track more reliably. I know this set is not really intended per say for Thomas otorized engine, but a Thomas brand set would work much better being Thomas brand track is wider, and deeper grooved. You get what you pay for as they say, and if I had to do it over again, I’d spent the extra money and went authentic Thomas brand. Also, the crane has a small wooden dowel that sticks into a hole with no latching or locking it in so my two year-old pulls the crane out regularly. After using some extra Thomas track I had laying around, I modified the layout enough to position the bridge farther down toward the front over the flat portion of the “downsloped” piece so that the cars would fit under the bridge and then glued the entire set down to make it all permanent. If you’re a handy type, you can tweak it to work decent, but if i had it to do over knowing what I know now, I’d just paid the extra for genuine Thomas brand stuff. The wheels ont the Chinese cars are not attached as well either as on the Thomas brand, so if you’re like me with another smaller child to be in the room as well, you might want to avoid any possiblilty of loose wheels and stick with Thomas brand, which is much higher quality, and the wheels seem to be actually round, and attached in safer fashion. Other than that, my 2+ year old doesn’t know the difference and has a ball playing all day with it. If you’re just buying it to use the cars included as a push only set, it’s definately fine for that.

My kids recieved this as a gift from their grandparents. It is fantastic! Very sturdy, looks great, everything you need for a train table! This company shipped it very fast and packaged it well. Assembly was time consuming, but kinda fun to set everything up! The best part is that it goes with Thomas the Train and Brio stuff, so you can mix it up. 5 stars all the way around!

This is the cutest top I’ve ever seen. It makes realistic train sounds and the train crossing gate lifts for the train to pass. I have given this toy to several different children as a gift. It is loud, and therefore, was a bit scary for a very young child (six months), but it is very appropriate for an older baby or toddler. The parent of course will have to do the pumping, but a two or three year old should be able to do it on their own.

What little boy or girl doesn’t love trains? I have a 5 year old girl and a 1 year old boy and every time we go to one of those stores with a train set like this one out for the kids to try I always have a hard time dragging my kids away. Well, now my kids can play with a train set as long as they want!

This set comes with the perfect amount of trains, cars, and track for several kids to play at once and keep one kid entertained for hours.

My kids are also fond of Thomas the Train whose vehicles are fully compatible.

The table is very sturdy while the 120 piece train set is also well made and you cannot beat the price which I would have been willing to spend just for the table alone.

I would highly recommend this set to anyone whose kids like trains or have had to be pried away from an in store display.

I’m really impressed with everything about this set…..it really does entertain. I have a daycare with the youngest being 2 and the oldest 8. Everyone plays with this. It’s built nicely and at the perfect height. (Little guys can stand and walk around while the older kids can kneel and play.)

Sometimes the picture is misleading and the final product turns out much smaller than you thought it would…….well, not the case with this! There is room enough for several children to play at once and plenty of accessories, people, and vehicles to go around.

It was reasonably easy to put together, too, but I’d suggest you do it alone or with a second adult, rather than with 3 toddlers helping you. The table assembly is quick and easy, using only the hex driver included. The train track assembly takes the most time. Be sure to save your directions in case they take it apart.

I’d recommend this for anyone with children.
