This track is great, and works fine. Just be aware that if this is the only track you have, you will need 2 of them to complete a circle. The Christmas train didn’t come with a track, so I ordered this one, but when I got it, it didn’t connect, so I have to order another one. It may say something somewhere about it, but I didn’t see it.

We purchased a Lego train for our grandson for Christmas along with an extra set of straight rails and a set of curved rails. That way he could build a bigger track for his train to run on. We were thrilled at the quality of this product. We were also amazed of how smooth and quiet the train ran on the tracks. We plan to add more track and cars to his set in the future. Also, the upside of this train and track is that a child can build scenery, houses, etc. around the train track and play with this gift continuously.

We love this train! My son is a lego enthusiast and a train enthusiast, so this is great for him. His is six, but with a bit of help, was able to build the whole set. More track is a MUST! We like the ability to be creative – to change the track every time we build it. You have to have more track for that. The remote control has worked great. Be sure you push the forward button more that one time. We were pushing it only once, and it was going so slow, we were disappointed. But then we learned that if you push it multiple times, the speed increases – in fact, the train flies around the track! Amazing! This wasn’t in the instructions.

I have been collecting Lego trains for nearly thirty years now, and I have to say that this model holds the same magic that that original train thirty years ago held for me. There are certainly improvements in the system, and the way it is powered has changed somewhat, but it still has the same basics.

One thing to note is that the tracks are not compatible with the tracks from the first era of trains, so if you have the old blue tracks you do have to do some funky things in order to combine the two systems together. The trains, however, do fit in the same gauge so if you have a train from one system it work fine on the tracks from the other system.

This is apparently the end of this generation of Lego train, and a new generation is going to be introduced sometime in the next year or two. Apparently the tracks will still be compatible, which is very good news.

We bought this set for my six year-old son for Christmas, and it was one of the best purchases we’ve ever made for him. The directions were a little complex, but I helped him assemble everything (which was fun for me, anyway!); and he played with it non-stop for days. He especially loved the 7 speeds on the train engine, and the fact that it goes forward or backward at all 7 speeds. One warning – the train tends to fly off the track at high speeds, unless you have extra tracks to put in to make the curves less sharp. My son actually loved to make the train fly off, but it tends to break apart a bit when this happens (which is just the nature of Legos, no big deal). All in all, this was his best Christmas gift and I loved watching him play with it.
